North West
Achievement gap
The North West has relatively low regional averages for ethnic diversity indicators. More people than the national average self-classify themselves as White British. However, regional averages hide the details of more localised data. Manchester is a very diverse city, with many bilingual students, and students whose first language is known or believed to be other than English. Manchester also has high levels of students eligible for FSM.
