My advice would be to be prepared for the long haul. I remember when I was about to start Teach First, I had the timescale of two weeks in my mind. I thought it would take me two weeks to become a good teacher, for all my classes to know me, to respect me and then start teaching really brilliant lessons with engaged children. It takes a lot longer than that and you will have tough times but there’ll be some great times as well.
Recruitment & Selection
Are you the kind of person who could make an impact in one of Teach First’s partner schools? You’ll need bright ideas, gritty determination, awesome communication skills and the confidence to stand up in front of 30 pupils, engage their attention, deflect their jibes and lead them on a journey. It’s a big ask.
