It's great teaching Maths because I know it's a subject that will have a massive impact on the pupils' lives, in terms of job applications or going to university.

Beyond two years

Ambassador network

Educational disadvantage is deeply embedded within our society. It’s the product of a broad range of issues and it’s not going to go away overnight, or even over the course of two demanding years. So while Teach First requires you to make a two-year commitment, your involvement with the mission and the Teach First community has the potential to be more far-reaching.

After successful completion of the Leadership Development Programme at the end of your second year, you will graduate to become a Teach First ambassador and join a rapidly growing movement working to affect exciting, innovative and systemic change in education.

Recognising that it takes more than two years to change society, the Teach First initiatives work to support and harness the interests and talents of ambassadors.

Teach On - Developing skills as an education practitioner

Teach On aims to unite the growing network of ambassadors in schools in challenging circumstances and equip them with the skills, knowledge, experience and networks they need to continue their impact on the Teach First mission.

Social Entrepreneurship - Building successful social ventures

This initiative supports ambassadors to develop and implement early stage ventures that will have a measurable impact on ensuring every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, gets access to the opportunities they deserve.

Governance for Change - Becoming a school governor

Volunteering as a governor is a meaningful way to influence long-term change in schools. It gives ambassadors the opportunity to contribute their fresh perspective and ideas, whilst developing leadership and strategic decision-making skills.

Policy First - Sharing insights and experiences with key policy makers

Ambassadors have insight into the challenges schools face, have experience of what works and have innovative ideas. Policy First helps ambassadors share their views with key decision makers who are responsible for changing education policy.

The Higher Education Access Programme for Schools (HEAPS) - Mentoring a student

HEAPS aims to improve pupil progression from Teach First partnering schools to the country’s leading universities. HEAPS achieves this by empowering ambassadors to increase aspiration, impart advice and inspire attainment by harnessing their skills.

Supporting Teach First - Giving the time, skills, funds and resources needed to maximise our impact on disadvantaged students across the UK

Through Supporting Teach First, ambassadors can help the charity move sustainably into more schools across the country by engaging in various activities from coaching current participants, to fundraising and helping us recruit on campus.

Lifelong Leadership

We know that to effect meaningful and long-term change at pupil, school and system level, leaders are needed in all fields. As an ambassador you will have exposure to the high quality professional development opportunities and resources needed to achieve this. Find out more.
